Finland’s Thaurorod release their new album ‘Coast Of Gold’ on 16th February via Drakkar Entertainment.

Thaurorod release their new video for single ‘24601’ and you can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNXIOtqlPIA&feature=youtu.be

Their home town of Hyvinkää is better known as Finland’s hotbed of black metal. Something of a deviation from the norm, power metal gunners THAUROROD have one by one felled every obstacle in their way, including a revolving door of members in their formative years. The trio of founders however; Pasi Tanskanen, Joonas Pykälä-aho and Emil Pohjalainen have stuck together through thick and thin. After releasing three self-financed EPs (2005–2007) and having sold them independently all around the globe the band got signed by Austrian NoiseArt Records and its close cohort Rock the Nation management. As the fruits of this union two formidable and well-loved albums were hatched: “Upon Haunted Battlefields” (2010) and “Anteinferno” (2013). Several successful tours followed, as direct support to genre greats like Sabaton, Symphony X, Nevermore and Alestorm.

Often likened to groups such as Sonata Arctica and DragonForce, THAUROROD’s music is fast-paced, symphonic power metal, glistening with the kind of catchiness and melodic sensibility that puts the competition to shame. Now celebrating their 15 year career with their massively anticipated third album, THAUROROD is ready to blow the competition out of water and get the recognition they so richly deserve.

Their subject matter delving into everything historical and fantastical, THAUROROD returns cannons loaded with 10 songs that will bombard you with melodic lush, choruses to die for and good vibes that will leave you drenched with euphoria. With 15 years of experience of all the good and the bad in the business and a new record company behind them, THAUROROD return, armed to the teeth with a killer album they’re here to shanghai you to their ship to sail with them. Welcome aboard!

Never ones to rush into things, the band have fostered their new album with patience. The completion of “Coast Of Gold” has been a labour of love which is certainly audible all over the album. Expertly produced by the band themselves and featuring Pasi Tanskanen’s grade-A song-writing chops, Andi Kravljaca’s soaring crystal clear vocal delivery, Harri Koskela’s elegant keyboard dynamics and Joonas Pykälä-Aho’s rapid-fire drumming “Coast Of Gold” is an album the power metal aficionados will cherish for years to come. Not just that, now internationally lauded as one of the premier guitarists of his generation, Emil Pohjalainen (co-winner of Guitar Gods Festival 2016 in Miami) and his brother-in-arms Lasse Nyman could surely burn your synapses with their fretboard fireworks, yet for THAUROROD, the song remains king.

“Coast Of Gold” takes us seaborne and to lands unknown with unforgettable power metal shanties such as “Power” that blows the wax out of your ears like a sea breeze and tickles the sweet spot of your melodic sensibilities, the impossibly catchy “Cannibal Island” and the inimitable title track that will linger in your ears for days on end. The perfect flipside of their musical doubloon, “Halla” in turn is an ode to winter fragile and majestic as life itself.

Ektomorf release their new album ‘Fury’ on 16th February via AFM Records.

Ektomorf release their new album ‘Fury’ on 16th February via AFM Records.

EKTOMORF was founded in 1993 in Mezökovacsháza, Hungary, a small city near the Romanian border, by Zoltán “Zoli” Farkas. In the actual line-up Zoli – songwriter and mastermind of the band – is the only remaining founding member.

Due to his gipsy background Zoli saw himself confronted with racism and prejudices. But this didn’t hold the band back from establishing an international career. The breakthrough came when EKTOMORF started their collaboration with Danish producer Tue Madsen in 2003. Madsen helped the band to find their very own, super fat, modern and powerful sound that EKTOMORF evolved since “Destroy” (2004) steadily.

EKTOMORF’s lyrics reflect this situation and deal with discrimination, society, pain and anger but show a strong will to survive and overcome all problems. Their music combines the burning fire of the primal gipsy music with modern elements: groovy, down tuned guitar riffs and aggressive drums, supplemented by powerful and raw screaming vocals became their trademarks.

Regardless of all circumstances EKTOMORF established itself as one of the most successful Hungarian bands, well known for their intensive, energetic, mind blowing live shows. Playing extensive headliner tours and shows at the biggest European festivals (e.g. Wacken, With Full Force, Sziget, Rock am Ring) the band build up a strong fan base throughout Europe.

Fury was produced by the band’s longtime engineer Tue Madsen (Antfarm studios).

Templeton Pek’s new single ‘The Awakening’ is out now

Templeton Pek release their blistering, emotionally charged new single ‘The Awakening’ on 12th January.

“The Awakening is a song that came about pretty quick in the (recording) process, it seemed to encapsulate the feeling at the time we wrote it. We were going through the beginnings of Brexit vote and lots of other world tension was escalating politically. It has been a wake up call for a lot of people who are just sick of politicians and being lied to or ‘influenced,’ and as a by product seems to have actually got more people taking an interest in having their say, how their countries or cities are being run and actually using their votes or voices.

Pre-order the new album and get both ‘The Awakening’ and previous single ‘Sirens’ instantly.

Upcoming shows:
16th Feb, Underworld, Camden supporting The Ataris
17th Feb, Asylum Birmingham supporting The Ataris
6th July, Amplified Festival, Gloucester
3rd August, Rebellion Festival, Winter Gardens, Blackpool

New album ‘Watching The World Come Undone’ out on 23rd February
Celebrating their 10th year anniversary as a signed band TEMPLETON PEK from Birmingham UK, show no signs of slowing down, if anything this new 5th studio album is some of their strongest material to date. “Lyrically it’s quite dark and very current in today’s fractured climate, it’s as close to a concept album as we come” says vocalist Neal Mitchell.

Produced by Davey Warsop (Bad Cop Bad Cop, Vanishing Line) the fellow Birmingham native now based in Long Beach recorded the album at Hurley Studios in Costa Mesa, California. The band added “We really pushed ourselves on this record in terms of Songwriting, the material and our individual performances as a whole. Davey was instrumental in all of that right down from pre-production to pushing us in the studio, and I think that really shows in the album.”

A seasoned touring band they have shared stages with The Offspring, Rise Against, Bad Religion, Sum 41, NOFX, Alkaline Trio, Lagwagon, Millencolin, Zebrahead, Ignite, Pennywise and many more touring mainland Europe and UK. Last year they joined the sold out Punk Summer Nationals Tour in the UK alongside The Offspring and Bad Religion which culminated at a sold out Hammersmith Apollo to 6,500 people.
With eyes on the rest of the world the band’s hunger is as big as ever as they embark on the start of a new era.

The Awakening is available to buy from all the usual digital outlets.

Asenblut release their new album Legenden on 16th Feb on AFM Records

More than ten years have passed since ASENBLUT came together. A lot has happened in the Göttingen based band’s camp since they caused quite the stir in the German Pagan Metal scene with their debut ‘AUFBRUCH’ back in 2009. They welcomed Black Metal, Thrash, melodic Death Metal and traditional Heavy Metal into their sound right from the start – an evolution that lead to ‘VON WORTEN UND TATEN’ (2013) and culminated into the third record ‘BERSERKER’ (2016), reaching an entirely new level. No wonder, with a title like this. “The music of the title track gave us inspiration for the lyrics and the album title”, clan boss and founder Tetzel explains. “The high pace, the heroic power and the energy of the song immediately lead to strong pictures that were followed by the right words mirroring the force and the madness of the berserker.”

‘BERSERKER’ did indeed sound like a Viking Metal record through the archetypical Heavy Metal lens of the eighties. A walk on the tightrope that was nothing short of genius and that would set fans from Blind Guardian via Amon Amarth to Equilibrium ablaze, in-your-face hymns, cast in a massive wall of sound. Recorded for eternity in Sebastian ‘Seeb’ Levermann’s (Orden Ogan) Greenman Studio, ‘BERSERKER’ sounded much more dominant and intimidating than the prior releases, yet allowing some highly welcome edges and thorns in the production. The result was an invincible, yet harsh sound, a legitimate counterpart to the berserkers’ battle cry.

In 2018, ASENBLUT are still an epic, furious, victorious and elegiac force to be reckoned with, a self-confident force about to let the regalia of German Viking Metal bloom anew.

The new 5 song EP ‘LEGENDEN’, which will be released on February 16th 2018, is looking back at the days of ‘AUFBRUCH’ while taking a huge step forward at the same time: 4 songs from the band’s early days, re-recorded and refined in the most perfect way, again by Mr. Sebastian ;Seeb’ Leevermann (Orden Ogan) in his Greenman Studios. As a very special treat, ‘LEGENDEN’ also includes a cover version of Manowar’s ‘God Or Man’.

Claus Cleinkrieg (Guitars), Yuri (Guitars), Sash (Bass), Balrogh (Drums), Tetzel (Vocals)
